European Capital of Culture in the periphery – Exploring The New Rural in Bad Ischl Salzkammergut

2025-08-05 Christina Jaritsch

An interdisciplinary team works with the Salzkammergut region and on an international level to establish the successor organization to the European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024. ‘Aufbruch, Salzkammergut!’ (Shine on, Salzkammergut!), the legacy of the European Capital of Culture will be carried into the future and the long-term cultural development strategy Kulturvision 2030 (Cultural Vision 2030) will be implemented. The vision is to establish a transdisciplinary Salzkammergut Triennial starting in autumn 2027.

Otelo eGen, based in Vorchdorf, is supporting ‘Aufbruch, Salzkammergut!’ project as a legal body.

Christina Jaritsch is a cultural worker and curator with a strong focus on interdisciplinary, community building, and sustainability.
